These home upgrades will give you the biggest bang for your buck.
Which upgrades should you make inside your home when prepping it for the market? There are two rooms you should focus on to get the best return on your investment: the kitchen and master bath.
If your kitchen hasn’t been remodeled in the last decade, it’s time to change out the surfaces (and, possibly, the cabinetry). The sink and faucet areas should be updated as well. Buyers are willing to pay top dollar for your home, but they need to see these features too.
"A new coat of paint (or color palette) will give your home a fresher look, and buyers will love the feel of it when walking into your house."
When it comes to the master bath, if you have an opportunity, add a double vanity. Buyers are looking for double vanities and are willing to pay a maximum price for them. Also, if possible, install a tiled, walk-in shower. Buyers aren’t looking for jetted tubs so much anymore. In your walk-in shower, try adding a rain or dual showerhead.
If you have these upgrades completed already, there are two more affordable upgrades you can consider that will boost your home’s value even further. The first is a fresh coat of paint. A new coat of paint (or color palette) will give your home a fresher look, and buyers will love the feel of it when walking into your house.
The second is a carpet replacement—especially if your carpeting looks tired or is more than five years old. Carpet is an easy thing to replace, so consult with a good carpet provider to see what works for your home.
